In Their Own Words
Khairul Hafizuddin
Bangsar, KL
"My grandfather's automatic was running several minutes fast. Brought it to Horologia on the recommendation of a colleague and was impressed from the first conversation. Rizwan explained exactly what he found and what he planned to do. The movement came back regulated to within a couple of seconds a day. I hadn't expected it to perform so well."

"I had the Polish and Protect done on a watch I wear daily that was starting to look tired. The difference after was noticeable — it looked thoughtfully refreshed rather than over-polished or altered. They replaced a scratched crystal and the case seal. Very reasonably considered for what was done."

"Brought in a dress watch that had been sitting unworn for about eight years. The Cabinet Service brought it back beautifully. The only small note is that the timeline ran a day or two over what was initially suggested — though I was kept informed throughout, so it wasn't a problem in practice."

"I entrusted Horologia with a watch that has real sentimental weight — my father's piece from the 1970s. The consultation at the start was thorough and unhurried. Rizwan photographed everything before beginning and walked me through what the restoration would involve. The result is a watch my father would recognise and appreciate."

"What I appreciated most was the absence of any pressure. I brought in my watch not fully knowing what service it needed, and the person I spoke to — Aizad — asked thoughtful questions and suggested the most appropriate option for the condition. No upselling, no drama. Just honest advice."

"A collector friend recommended Horologia for a movement that had been poorly serviced elsewhere. The condition report was illuminating — it showed exactly what had been done badly and what needed correcting. The Cabinet Service that followed fixed what needed fixing. I now know where my watches go."

Case Studies
Restoring a 1968 Swiss Automatic with a Damaged Dial
Challenge
A family heirloom watch had spent years in a drawer with an incorrect crown fitted, leading to moisture ingress and partial dial damage. The movement had stopped entirely. The owner wanted the watch wearable again without losing its original character.
Solution
Grand Feu Restoration: full movement overhaul, careful dial conservation to arrest further deterioration (preserving original patina rather than refinishing), correct crown sourcing, and fresh gasket sealing. Photographic documentation at each stage.
Outcome
Watch returned running within ±4 seconds per day. Dial character preserved intact. Owner described it as "the version of the watch my mother would have owned." Duration: 11 weeks.
Cabinet Service on a Frequently Worn Dress Watch
Challenge
A client wore a manual-wind watch daily and noticed it had become inconsistent in timekeeping over several months. The case showed fine scratches from regular wear, and the crystal had a small chip at the edge.
Solution
Cabinet Service: movement fully stripped, cleaned, pivots inspected, mainspring assessed, all surfaces lubricated to specification and movement reassembled. Case addressed and crystal replaced. Seals renewed.
Outcome
Timekeeping stabilised to approximately +5 seconds per day. Case presented cleanly. Client returned six months later for a second watch. Duration: 9 working days.
Polish & Protect for a Pre-Loved Acquisition
Challenge
A client had purchased a pre-owned watch that appeared to have been stored without care. The bracelet was discoloured at the links, the crown felt slightly stiff, and the crystal had surface marks that caught the light.
Solution
Polish & Protect: case and bracelet thoroughly cleaned, crystal replaced, crown and pushers tested, battery confirmed, and fresh gaskets installed. A written note of findings was included.
Outcome
Watch returned looking clean and wearing correctly. Client commented that it "finally felt like their own watch." Duration: 3 working days.
